Meet Your Instructors
Jamaica
Founder & Chief Flight Instructor
Hi, I’m Jamaica. I’m a Flight Instructor and founder of Pacific Sky Aviation here in San Luis Obispo. My aviation journey began with a discovery flight I received as a gift and I instantly fell in love. Since then, I’ve taught at a busy flight school, built a career spanning both aviation and tech, and earned my degree from UCLA ~ milestones that shaped how I teach and ultimately inspired me to launch Pacific Sky Aviation.
As a first-generation pilot, I know what it’s like to start with zero knowledge, and I love helping students feel safe, confident, and excited to fly. When I’m not in the cockpit, you’ll usually find me writing, riding horses, or enjoying the Central Coast outdoors. Whether you’re beginning your first lesson or returning to the skies, I’d love to help guide your journey.

Gabriel
Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI)
"Hi, I’m Gabe Rogalla. I grew up just outside San Luis Obispo, and I’ve loved aviation for as long as I can remember. Some of my favorite memories are going to spirit of San Luis as a kid with my great grandma, watching planes come and go, dreaming of the day I’d be in the cockpit. Now as a CFI, CFII, and MEI, it’s a privilege to help others chase that same dream. I’m passionate about flight training that’s clear, encouraging, and tailored to each student. Whether your goal is recreational flying or a professional career, I’m here to help you get there one flight at a time."

Lorin
Stage Check Instructor (CFI)
"Hi, My name is Lorin M. Ponton, and I'm a recovering corporate ladder chaser. I stumbled upon aviation, took a discovery flight and haven't looked back since! After 6 months of flying intermittently while sustaining my full time job, I decided to jump ship and pursue a career in aviation! I currently have my Single/Multi-Engine Land Commercial License and Instrument Rating. I am also a Certified Flight Instructor, Ground Instructor, and part owner of a Piper Archer. My goals are to build experimental aircrafts with student pilots and to own a charter aircraft company. I believe that helping to break down aviation concepts and creating affordable solutions to get into aviation will help clear fears and bring more historically underrepresented communities to the field."

Today, I’m a Certified Flight Instructor, ground instructor, and the owner of a classic Cessna 170A. You’ll often find me flying my tailwheel around California or welcoming fellow aviators at the ACI front desk. When I’m not in the air, I love running, surfing, and skiing. "I am extremely satisfied with the instruction I have received. As a rusty pilot who had not flown in over 10 years it was amazing how quickly I was able to get confident again and achieve my bucket list dream of landing at KAVX, Catalina Island."
